LAND ECOLOGY

Ancient Woodland Connectivity — Oxford

Overview

Ancient woodlands around Wytham Woods form part of a wider ecological network, but roads, farmland and other land uses can weaken connections between habitat patches. This project examines woodland distribution and landscape structure to identify fragmentation, potential connections and areas where habitat restoration could strengthen the network.

MARINE ENGINEERING

 

Offshore Wind Suitability — Ligurian Sea

Overview

Planning offshore wind at sea requires environmental sensitivity, technical feasibility and existing marine uses to be considered together. This project uses multi-criteria spatial analysis to compare constraints and suitability across the Ligurian Sea, providing a transparent basis for exploring where development may be more or less appropriate.

MARINE BOTANY

 

Posidonia oceanica Conservation Priorities — Golfe-Juan

Overview

Posidonia oceanica meadows support biodiversity, stabilise sediments and store carbon, yet remain vulnerable to anchoring and coastal pressures. This project combines habitat distribution and pressure data to identify areas where conservation action and sustainable anchoring measures may be most valuable around Golfe-Juan.
